A Touch Of Silver

On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Motilal Nehru Public School, a grand 3 days celebration “ A Touch Of Silver” saw its 1st day , 6th August,2016, with Council (CISCE) Chief Executive and Secretary Mr. Gerry Arathoon as the chief guest. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Anita Arathoon to grace a special programme to mark the occasion.

Since the inception of the school in 1992, the school has progressed gradually seeing three principals in a span of 25 years.The founder Principal was Dr. C. D. Dwivedi whose brain child was the school. Then Mr. R.S.S. Mani headed the school for a short span of 3 years. Principal Mrs. AshuTiwary took over the reins of the school since 2005.

The founder members of the school Dr. C.D. Dwivedi, Dr. D.P. Shukla and Mr. M. Khan had a vision of igniting young minds. The other stalwarts who were deeply associated with the school are Mr.Ashok Dubey, Mr. O.P. Singh Azad and Mr. Harihar Pandey.

On 6th August, morning, Mr. Gerry Arathoon had an interaction with the school students. In the interactive session, students asked Mr. Arathoon some interesting questions like –
• What is the use of studying Shakespeare in the present age, specially for science students?
• Why should we study so much of English Literature in ISC?
• What are your roles and responsibilities as the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council?
• How can the ISC syllabus be upgraded to help us in various competitive exams?

The Chief Guest also interacted separately with the faculty of Motilal Nehru Public School and understood about the quality initiative and leadership programme being conducted for students. He appreciated the efforts taken up by teachers to promote excellence in school.

Mr. and Mrs. Arathoon also planted saplings in the school campus.
Later in the evening, at a glittering function held in the school auditorium, Mr. Arathoon stated that Motilal Nehru Public School is synonymous with quality education and imparting moral values. He congratulated the school on completion of its 25 years of journey and wished the school great achievements in future. It was an occasion to remember all those who have been instrumental in the development of school.

A spectacular programme by students on the theme of Swami Vivekananda’s “Arise, Awake and stop not till the goal is achieved” -was performed in the form of a ballet which held the audience spell bound. A documentary film “ SEE THE CHANGE” was screened showcasing the 25 years of school’s glorious journey.

Long service awards were presented to faculty and staff of the school. (List enclosed)
Quality Appreciation Awards were also given to the teachers to acknowledge their efforts in bringing various positive changes in school as well as promoting excellence in their own fields.(List enclosed)
Special Silver Jubilee awards were introduced on the occasion for some outstanding students, namely – The Maverick Award and The Mighty Pen Award which was bagged by Satya Amar of class XII & Sushmita Jha of class X respectively. The Mevrick Award goes to a student who is a critical and creative thinker and whose out of the box strategies have helped design solutions to problems or issues within or outside the school campus. The Mighty Pen Award is awarded toa student who has shown remarkable achievement in literary events and who has used the power of words and language to bring laurels to school.

The programme was attended by distinguished guests, principals of various schools of the city like Mrs. Amy Billimoria of J.H. Tarapore school, Mrs. Nandini Shukla of KSMS, Mrs. Sunita Sinha of Gulmohar school, Mrs. Rajani Shekhar, Ms. Lalita Sareen, Sister Mridula of Sacred Heart Convent, TQMS members, Rotarians and the members of the school Management as well as Executive Committee.

The programme was ably compered by Saniya Imtiyaz and Faizan Haider, students of std. XII.
The welcome address was delivered by the Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Mr. A.K. Dubey.
Dr. D.P. Shukla, Secretary, School Managing Committee, felicitated Mr. Arathoon for his rich contribution to education.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the Principal, Mrs. Ashu Tiwary.
